As agriculture becomes more complex and technology-driven, traditional classroom learning is no longer enough. Tomorrow’s agricultural professionals need more than theory – they need practical experience with the tools, systems, and challenges shaping modern farming.
That is why the ReGrow project is establishing ReGrow Labs: innovative training spaces where students, educators, and agricultural professionals can gain hands-on experience in Precision Agriculture.
The ReGrow Labs are designed to bridge the gap between academic learning and real-world application. Rather than simply learning about drones, sensors, GIS mapping, or smart irrigation systems in a lecture hall, participants will have the opportunity to use these technologies directly. This practical approach strengthens both technical skills and confidence, helping learners better understand how digital tools can improve productivity, reduce waste, and support more sustainable farming practices. ReGrow Labs are one of the project’s core outputs, created to connect education with the realities of modern agriculture.
The labs will support the new MSc in Precision Agriculture by giving students access to modern equipment and interactive learning environments. Activities may include testing soil and crop monitoring technologies, working with remote sensing data, learning to use automation systems, and exploring how data can support better decision-making on farms.
Importantly, the ReGrow Labs are not only for students. They are also intended to support educators, researchers, and agricultural stakeholders. By creating spaces for experimentation, training, and collaboration, the labs will encourage stronger links between universities, farmers, businesses, and policymakers.
For Georgia and Ukraine, where agricultural education often lacks access to modern infrastructure and equipment, these labs represent a major step forward. They will help create a new generation of professionals who are ready to respond to climate challenges, technological change, and the growing demand for sustainable farming.
In the future, the knowledge and experience gained in ReGrow Labs will extend far beyond the classroom. It will contribute to stronger rural communities, more resilient farms, and a more innovative agricultural sector across the region.
