Agriculture is changing rapidly. As digital technologies, sustainability goals, and climate challenges reshape the sector, the need for diverse perspectives and inclusive participation has never been more important. Women are playing an increasingly significant role in this transformation, contributing not only to agricultural production, but also to innovation, education, research, and rural development.
Despite this progress, women in agriculture still face many barriers. In rural areas, access to education, training opportunities, modern technologies, and leadership positions often remains unequal. This can limit both individual opportunities and the overall development of the agricultural sector.
The ReGrow project recognizes that the future of agriculture must be inclusive. Through its activities, ReGrow promotes equal access to modern agricultural education and digital learning opportunities for all learners, including women and young professionals in rural communities.
The development of the MSc programme in Precision Agriculture and the ReGrow Virtual Learning Environment creates new possibilities for women to participate in modern agricultural education. Digital learning tools can help overcome geographical and social barriers, making education more accessible and flexible.
Women also bring important perspectives to sustainable agriculture. Across many communities, women are already involved in resource management, food production, and local economic activities. Their participation in agricultural innovation and decision-making can help create more resilient and community-oriented farming systems.
By supporting inclusive and accessible education, ReGrow contributes to building a more diverse agricultural sector where women have greater opportunities to learn, innovate, and lead.
