Across Europe and beyond, agriculture is facing a generational challenge. Many young people see farming as outdated, difficult, or lacking opportunity. At the same time, the agricultural sector urgently needs new ideas, new skills, and a new generation of leaders who can respond to climate change, digital transformation, and evolving market demands.
The future of agriculture depends on young people.
Today’s agriculture is no longer limited to traditional farming methods. It increasingly relies on technology, innovation, sustainability, and data-driven decision-making. Drones, smart sensors, GIS mapping, automation, and digital farm management systems are becoming part of everyday agricultural practice. For young people who are interested in technology, entrepreneurship, and environmental issues, agriculture can offer exciting and meaningful career opportunities.
However, young people need access to the right education and support. In both Georgia and Ukraine, many students still have limited opportunities to learn about modern agricultural technologies. Practical training is often insufficient, and there is a lack of programs that combine sustainability, innovation, and real labor market needs. ReGrow was created in response to these challenges, with the goal of preparing a new generation of agricultural professionals through a modern MSc in Precision Agriculture and innovative learning tools.
The ReGrow project places young people at the center of agricultural transformation. Through the new Master’s programme, students will gain both technical knowledge and practical experience. They will learn how to use modern technologies, but also how to work collaboratively, solve problems, and develop sustainable solutions for their communities.
Young people are especially important because they bring new perspectives. They are often more open to innovation, more comfortable with digital tools, and more willing to explore new ways of farming. With the right support, they can become the leaders who modernize agriculture and make it more sustainable, productive, and resilient.
Investing in young people means investing in the future of rural areas, food systems, and entire communities. By giving young people the skills and opportunities they need, ReGrow is helping ensure that agriculture remains not only relevant, but full of possibility.
